Apple's probably gone to DEFCON 1 after last year's prototype theft, so the iPhone 5 is delayed because everything is taking longer due to security clearances.

    Yeah must be crossed posts!

What is weird though is that I just ran geekbench and got a score of 764 with only 256mb ram compared with 732 when I had 512md ram

could it be that the dodgy dimm was registering its capacity but hindering the machine in the geekbench tests due to it being faulty?

I saw a commercial for RIM's playbook the other day. It has some uniqueness to the interface. Sure all tablets are going to be similar to an extent but at least RIM tried to put a little originality into theirs unlike Samsung and their blatant copy of the ipad.

I can't wait to see the TouchPad. webOS is pretty nifty :)

This feature is long overdue, but better late than never I guess.

I think I can get used to this competition thing! Now I will wait patiently for my mobile hotspot.

I have a western digital external hard drive, and it recently stopped showing up on my desktop. However, it does show up on my disk utility, but it wont repair. Do I have to sacrifice everything on my hard drive?

Stop with the FUD already. Businesses operating in the EU cannot do this. Just because corporations in the USA can, doesn't mean the rest of the world is the same...

So..Seriously why do you care then. Not one single publisher cares at all about the 30% that is a pretty standard affiliate cut in for news publishers and exactly what WSJ pays on it's lowest tier, it goes up from there for high volume affiliates.

Do you have any proof that FT actually does sell email addresses?

Just because businesses wants your email doesn't equate to they'll sell your details...

Other then the guy saying it hurts their business model not to have all my personal info no.

How hard is it to uncheck these two boxes?
    http://img713.imageshack.us/img713/6509/onek.png

And other publications, like The Economist, already come with the equivalent boxes unchecked by default.

The Economist is ok with selling in subscriptions..
Apple needs to learn to work with publishers.

I spend about a third of my daily iPad time reading the FT every morning. If the app gets pulled or no longer works (because Apple insists on getting their cut of my annual subscription), I will make the very easy decision to get an Android tablet next.

Same goes for my Economist and WSJ apps. Combined, I probably spend 75% of my time on my iPad reading these publications. Take them away, and I'm gone.

My loyalty is to the publisher and the quality of their material. It is NOT to Apple. And one less iPad owner also means one less App store and/or iTunes customer.

Apple should tread very lightly here.

Maybe you should tell publishers you are ok with them not requiring your personal information..

i don't see why so many people think iChat on a phone is so crazy or why it would need to be wifi.

i have a button on my Razr that is a direct connection to AIM so instant messaging from a phone isn't crazy, two of the people on my buddy list are on mobile phones.

iChat would be faster then texting and just cause this "second phone" would be very iChat based doesn't mean it wont be a phone. It sounds very sidekick like and the sidekick of course has AIM on it.

If they make a phone that will beat the Sidekick (shouldn't be too hard) then i'm in, i'd prefer that then just a a regular candy bar phone

You are obviously missing the point. Apple's new subscription model is preventing choice from coming to it's customers. How is that not a bad thing?

What are you talking about? It's enabling choice. Customers have a choice to send their personal data to FT. Before, they did not. What choice is Apple taking away from customers?

Apple says: "give choice to customers."
FT says: "no choice for customers."

And you have the nerve to call people Apple fanboys. That term should nullify your point right then and there.

This is the very reason why I think that Apple's policy should be reconsidered. Why would content providers such as the Financial Times be compelled to offer their content on iOS, when Apple requires them to (additionally) use the in-app purchases by which the providers lose the advantage of using their own register and keeping the entire revenue, without having to share it with Apple. The position of the Financial Times is completely understandable, regardless of the business decisions that provider has made. I still doubt whether the true motive of Apple to enforce this measure is not consumer protection but receiving profits from the content of others.

Although this is pretty cool, being a Web Designer, I'll never see myself using this, manipulating with a finger is difficult, especially when it comes to creating web interfaces & getting accuracy, because you have to remember we are working with pixels, there is no way u can get the accuracy of a mouse through any tablet..

Apart from that, even for professional photographers or those who do illustration I don't think they could make any real use out of this, at least not at this stage, we are use to using either keyboard (shortcuts) + mouse, or a wacom..

    Pixels +Fingers = :(

Setup a Static IP address in your Xbox settings by going to network settings and switching to Manual rather than auto. The easiest way to get rid of NAT problems is to host your xbox on a DMZ, which you do by going to your routers settings and entering in the IP address you just assigned to your xbox.

Many forum members here in the past have claimed that these methods also fall under the classification of torture, so what if information obtained using these methods led to the death of O.B.L.?It would simply indicate a failure of intelligence, and would invalidate any trial evidence. His death is meaningless anyway.
As for the poster who asked what has been gained by his death, its called retribution.Who wants retribution? Your country has just destroyed two other nations and caused the deaths of in the region of a million people, including 4,000 US soldiers, and more or less bankrupted itself, all for what, 3,000 dead, in a search for one man? Is that retribution, or is it lunacy? How many more people now want retribution on the USA?

Well this certainly beats that ipod integration nonsense. MP3 player phones are a dime a dozen, I'd rather see great communication device that take how the user communicates to the next level, not just stuff a music player in it.

You need to ask yourselves a questions: How these stores operating? and Why products end up there?

Apparently, some authorized retailers overstock iPads or could not move projected volume, so they dumped some unsold inventory to Marshalls and TJMax, just to get some cash back, quick.

Overstocked with iPads??? Not a good news for Steve.

What is the issue here? iPads are sold in Walmart and Target and nobody complains.

I think the biggest issue with it comes from the actual Apple authorized retailers. For instance, in my line of work (golf course management), I purchase golf equipment directly from the manufacturers (Callaway Golf, Nike, Titleist, etc). To be able to do that, I HAVE to agree to a minimum advertised pricing (MAP) policy, or I can't buy directly from them nor be listed as a retailer of that company's products (any retailer buying from directly from the manufacturer has to abide by this). If I then saw a major retailer (a competitor) advertising products that I sell for significantly lower than I am allowed to (knowing that all official retailers are supposed to be bound by this agreement to even sell the products as an "authorized retailer"), then I'm going to be pretty upset as to why I have to abide by it to get my goods, when either they (the competitor discounting said merchandise) aren't, or either they are getting a cheaper price (allowing them to sell for a lower price than me, yet still keep similar profit margins). And if they are in violation of this MAP policy, I'm going to damn sure be wondering why the manufacturer (in the iPad case...Apple), isn't going after them (telling them to stop, if they are an authorized retailer), or pulling their account. In the golf business, the manufacturers go hard after companies that violate this MAP policy.

You're over play that part, I agree generally with what you are saying(although the million estimate is on the higher end, its not without sources) but America had NOT bankrupted itself, it just needs to cut spending, a lot.

But thats not all because of 9/11, we just did balance the budget well overall, both on spending at home and spending internationally.

Actually he was just on O'Reilly claiming that statement was taken out of context, and stating plain as day that KSM was waterboarded by the CIA.

Just give a link, please. That way we all have access to the same info, and we can all talk about it equally

Right now, no one can argue with you because they only have your short hand story, where you narrow it down only to support your point, thats not wrong, its just not a useful starting point.
