Can't tell - the site is down (well, not down, but not all that accessible either - the page says they're being hit with excessive traffic...).

Saw one of these parked up down my road earlier, in my opinion it's the best car on the market today. Amazing looking, so comfortable, and very very fast when they need to be.

It's been a while since I've posted but I think I've got one worthy this month :D
http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4148/5080911417_7eb6e59648_z.jpg (http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4148/5080911417_7eb6e59648_b.jpg)
And just in case the link breaks you can find it on my Flickr page here (http://www.flickr.com/photos/edriddle/5080911417/).
The name of this piece is called "The Usual Scum" and it was drawn by the very talented Otis Frampton (http://otisframpton.com/) for me so it's not available for download in it's full size, an amazing 4200x2914. It is of course a take off of the movie poster for "The Usual Suspects".
http://www.gsdvds.com/suspects.gif
For those interested, Otis draws these live via Ustream and then posts them for later viewing. You can watch him draw this one here (http://www.ustream.tv/recorded/9558615). Also, if you've never been in a live Ustream before he's talking to the folks that are chatting with him via text, he's not talking to himself :).

That is the weirdest wallpaper I have ever seen. No offense, well kinda..
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/12428034/Screen%20shot%202010-12-01.png
One of a bunch that circulate through right now. This particular one is from Schneider Studios on DeviantArt. (http://browse.deviantart.com/?qh=§ion=&global=1&q=SchneiderStudios#/d2elxwf)
That's Adium with a custom theme, and MacLampsX (http://arcticmac.home.comcast.net/~arcticmac/software/maclampsx.html) doing the bulbs on the screen edges. I usually show my Dock, but didn't want to block any more of the bulbs than necessary.

You are exactly what the forums needed to deal with the wave of spammers that have been striking as of late. I remember one member in particular (I won't name which one) had a post average of over 60 per day shortly after being banned. I know this because I checked that user's profile. 60 per day is almost surely spamming when even Mr. Anderson can't manage more than 16 legitimate posts per day - I haven't found any more active member.
I know who you mean, and that member I believe turned out to be another member in disguise who had already been banned for spamming!

Why do some posters put down peoples choices or even the fact that it exists in white?
So, if you don't like a white iphone, buy black. It's all good:-)
I like black, but my daughter likes white. When I asked why, she said it goes well with her white ipad and white MacBook, when they are all on her desk.
Sounds like as good a reason as any.
She has a 3GS off contract that is totally on it's last legs (broken glass replaced with plastic, battery empty mid-day), so her only decision is to wait out the next iphone or not.
Unfortunately she has never been able to wait for anything(despite me mentioning not to buy 1st gen Apple products), so she'll probably buy the ip4 in white.
I bet there are many people out there in the same situation.
"Sick" in that context means "good" I think...he likes the White too...

The keynote was terrible.
It's called "MacWorld" yet there was nothing in there about the mac. Just this little toy that dosn't really interest me that much called the "iPhone" and the "Apple TV".
I completely agree. I'm really wanting them to put up the video stream of the keynote so I can see if MacRumors had it right when they put this on the live coverage feed:
9:18 am we're only talking about the mac today
If Steve really said that, it's a flat out LIE. Nothing was about the Mac, except for devices that can interact with them. When I saw that, I just knew leopard and speed bumped Macs were just moments away.

OK, I've been thinking about this event now for a day. I noticed two what I would consider Steve faux pas. The first being Mr. Jobs brought up the one thing I have been hoping and begging for since the beginning of iTunes and the iTunes store: the Beetles. Why on earth other than "Hey, I like them" would he bring up an artist, in this case a group, that is not even available in the store? Was it a test? Was he hoping to hear a reaction from the audience that would push Sir Paul over the edge and join the throngs of iTunes lovers? Give me a break! The fourth largest music retailer should be able to pull in any band. Fact is, those of us who love them are getting older and the new generation thinks they are six legged arthropods.
Along the same lines was the Paramount introduction. Vague to say the least. Now, in the background were titles like the Italian Job (both of them), Paycheck, and K-19. They are not to be seen on the store. Sure, Thursdays seem to be the day of updates for the movies but Steve said they were updating right as he was giving the keynote. Another slip?

A recent posting on an Apple developer's blog (http://www.musingsfrommars.org/) Musings from Mars depicts new Safari features built into the latest developer preview of Leopard. As of this posting, MacRumors cannot independently verify the claims, however the blogger posts multiple video clips of the features. The blogger highlights the following features:
Tabbed Browsing Enhancements
Following the lead of other browsers, Apple has implemented a customizable tab-bar so that users can re-order tabs via drag-and-drop. Apple has also extended the concept to be able to make a window from a tab by dragging a tab off of the tab bar.
Search Improvements
The Safari search option is now integrated into the browser window much like Firefox's implementation. However search results are displayed all at once by default rather than Firefox's one-at-a-time approach.
Resizable TEXTAREAs
Safari will allow the user to resize a text area (via a drag corner) in an HTML form and dynamically redraw the web page to fit the new size.
Leopard was previewed (http://www.macrumors.com/pages/2006/08/20060807161421.shtml) at this year's Worldwide Developer Conference, and should ship next spring.

Highly unlikely. You might, however, be able to import it into a VM for Parallels. VMWare or Virtualbox.

First off congrats on your new purchase!
On to your questions..
Can I use a Sata drive run from a PCI Sata controller card as the boot drive?
Yes you can. I am booted from a SATA drive on a PCI card as I type this. For your needs I recommend the 4 channel PCI SATA card FirmTek sells.
Will the power supply be up to running 6 hard drives inside? (4 in standard locations and one in each 5.25 bay)
Yes. The Dual 867 has a 400 Watt PSU and can easily handle 6 drives. All modern drives consume around 12-15 Watts so even 6 would only be around 75-90 Watts. Unless you want to use more than one SATA PCI card you will have to make 2 of the drives PATA.
Are there any perennial issues with this model I should look out for?
The MDD is the most troublesome G4 tower but keep in mind the repair/recall on these was only for about 6% of them which is very good compared to G5 towers that range from 11-32% of systems needing repair. I have owned 2 MDD in the past and based on that and other research I have done the Dual 867MHz is the most rock solid of them all. The MDD's main issues were fan noise and some of the PSU's die after just a few years. There are a few guides around though on how to rig a standard 24 pin ATX PSU to power an MDD.
Considering it's about 8 years old now and still running you definitely have a good one.
I want to give it a good going over before I get it up and running. I was going to clean and reapply Arctic silver to the CPU/heatsink interface, upgrade to 2Gb RAM, replace the rather noisy fan with a higher CFM quieter version and anything else you guys can recommend

Really? The seller was completely honest, upfront and quite descriptive about the item he is selling. I wish I could get the same when I go to buy my next used car.
[/B]
completely the opposite. you obviously don't know eBay or PayPal. PayPal will 99% of the time be in favour of the buyer.
1. title doesn't state picture.
2. listed under the wrong category
buyer wins.

edit: actually, i'm so confident that if someone had posted this early, i would've bid really high, made sure i won the auction and not paid the seller. guess what, i wouldn't even get a strike for those reasons listed above.
